"The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive them with the required dispositions." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1131)
Wherever you are in your life of faith, St. John Bosco welcomes you on your journey to receive God's saving grace through the sacraments. To learn about receiving the sacraments at St. John Bosco, please refer to the information below. You may also call the church office if you have any questions. We will be happy to assist you!
The sacraments of Christian initiation — Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist — lay the foundations of every Christian life. “The sharing in the divine nature given to men [and women] through the grace of Christ bears a certain likeness to the origin, development, and nourishing of natural life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity.” (CCC, 1212)
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you”
(Matthew 28:19-20).
Instructions for scheduling a baptism for infants and children under the age of seven.
We are excited that you want your child to become a part of God's family! Parents, we ask that you be active, registered parishioners of St. John Bosco Church for a minimum of three months prior to the baptism. (Registration cards are available in the church office and at the welcome table in the parish hall. You may return them to the office or place them in the collection basket during Mass.)
Contact the parish office to recieve a baptism packet for you to complete or click here to print the form. Once the packet is complete, please return it to the office. (Registered parishioners who are expecting a baby may contact the parish prior to the delivery for a packet and to attend the baptism classes. The baptism can then be scheduled following the baby's birth.)
After completing the packet, parents and the godparent(s) attend one of our baptism classes. It's a great class! Arrangements will be made for an online class for Godparents who are not in the area.
Baptisms are not done during the season of Lent, except for emergencies.

Special note for families from other parishes: Children should be baptized within the faith community where their parent(s) are worshiping. Through the Sacrament of Baptism, the child becomes part of God's spiritual family. It is important for them to be welcomed into the community where their faith life will be nurtured. Therefore, we ask families from other parishes to please work with their own parish in planning for their child's baptism.
For baptism in an emergency, you may contact the parish office during business hours (Tues-Thurs 9am - 4pm & Fri 9am - 1pm) at 253-582-1028.
For Adults and Children aged seven or older seeking baptism will need to go thru the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). For more info and questions, contact Ana Pedersen at St. Frances Cabrini 253-588-2141 ext. 306.
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; . . .he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and . . . abides in me, and I in him” (John 6:51,54, 56).
At Mass, when we receive the consecrated bread and wine, we partake of the real Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and participate in his one sacrifice. The grace we receive nourishes us in our life of faith.
If you or someone you know is in need of receiving Communion in the home due to illness, disability, or age, please contact the Parish office to have a member of ou Homebound Ministry come for a visit.

“Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit; for it had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit”
