The St. John Bosco Youth Ministry Program is open to ALL parish youth and their friends in grades 7-12. Our program is divided between Junior High (grades 7 & 8) and Senior High (grades 9-12). There is no registration fee for this ministry!
The program consists of regularly scheduled Youth Group meetings, a variety of social activities, spiritual events, retreats, participation in Pierce County Catholic Youth Ministry Association (PCCYMA) activities and Archdiocesan gatherings. This allows you to gather with Catholic youth from throughout all of Western Washington.
We are also involved in a variety of service activities to include, but not limited to: Paint Tacoma-Pierce Beautiful, Pierce County Hunger Walk, Annual March for Life, Guadalupe House/Tacoma Catholic Worker, St. Leo's Soup Kitchen, Nativity House, Youth Migrant Project, Mission Montana.
Junior High: Our Junior High youth meet on Sunday mornings following the 9:00 Mass and breakfast. Our meetings are held in the large meeting room from 10:45 until Noon. Register here. Tentative schedule here.
Senior High: Our Senior High youth meet on Sunday evenings from 6:30 until 8:00 in the parish hall. Register here. Tentative schedule here.
Leadership Council: The Youth Leadership Council consists of selected members of the Senior High Youth Group who meet regularly with the Adult Leadership and Youth Minister to plan upcoming activities and youth ministry sessions. Two individuals are selected from this group to represent the Youth of St. John Bosco on the Pastoral Council.
Confirmation: The Sacrament of Confirmation is made available to youth who have already received Baptism and First Eucharist and are between their Sophomore and Senior years of High School. You must be 16 years old prior to April 1, 2010 in order to be eligible.
Those who choose to prepare for Confirmation meet on specified Sundays between January and April of 2010 from 1:00 until 3:00.
There is also a Confirmation retreat in January and service work that are required of each candidate before Confirmation.
Spiritual and Social Activities: Retreats, Archdiocesan Senior High convention, Archdiocesan Junior High Rally, Youth Dances, Boat Cruises, Family Snow Tubing Trip, Rock Climbing Lock-in
